Supply chain resilience strategy

Because of escalating geopolitical tension in the region and heavy dependence on imports for most strategic commodities, the government of a Middle East country decided to formulate a resilience program with the support of Strategy&.

Working with the private sector, intelligence agencies, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Health, the Strategy& team developed a list of strategic commodities critical for survival, as well as a list of the most likely emergency scenarios. The team then developed a comprehensive supply chain stress test model to quantify the potential impact of emergencies on commodity supply chains. They formulated mitigation strategies with detailed financial analyses to derive the best resilience approach for each commodity. They also developed a public–private partnership framework and an associated governance model for effective implementation.

By the end of the project, the team had crafted a comprehensive supply chain resilience strategy with detailed resilience alternatives, associated budgets, governance models, and an implementation road map.
