Dr Mark Esposito

Dr. Mark Esposito is an economist and public policy expert with faculty appointments at Harvard University, where he has served since 2011. At Harvard, he is a social scientist affiliated with the Kennedy School’s Center for International Development, the Institute for Quantitative Social Science (IQSS), and the Davis Center for Eurasian Studies. He is also a faculty associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society and teaches a popular course on Artificial Intelligence for the Division of Continuing Education, in addition to leading a seminar on AI and International Development at Harvard Kennedy School.

He equally serves as Professor of Economic Policy at the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government and serves as Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. A global policy practitioner, he works closely with governments across the GCC and Eurasia and is a recognized contributor to the World Economic Forum, involved in its Global AI Alliance and Converging Technologies initiatives.

He is co-founder of Nexus FrontierTech, a machine learning research firm.

The author of over 150 academic and non-academic publications, Dr. Esposito has written 14 books, including bestsellers Understanding How the Future Unfolds (2017) and The AI Republic (2019). His most recent works include The Great Remobilization (MIT Press, 2023) and Digitizing the Emerging Economies (Cambridge University Press, 2024), with forthcoming titles from Penguin Random House and Routledge in 2025. He holds a doctoral degree in economics from École des Ponts ParisTech and splits his time between Boston, Geneva, and Dubai.
