Our client work
We have worked with private and public sector clients in South East Asia on their strategic and operational agendas. Our recent projects include the following:
Client example 1
A leading Indonesian energy company has been mandated to ensure fuel security of supply in Indonesia in which infrastructure is a key enabler. Currently, a significant gap exists in the infrastructure across the value chain and our client needs to build an infrastructure development strategy to overcome this gap. The project included conducting a baseline of the current availability of infrastructure and developing a 10-year development strategy across the value chain.
Client example 2
As part of its key growth initiatives, a leading Indonesian energy company intends to form a Joint Venture with an international partner to develop a petrochemical plant. In the first phase, we developed a partner selection framework and assisted in the selection process. In the second phase, we built a project management team to form the Joint Venture itself including assessing the economic feasibility of the business and the venture.
Fit for Growth
Client example 1
A leading Indonesian mining company currently faces a downward pressure in its profitability due to low coal prices. As such, it intends to conduct vertical and horizontal integration to acquire the value added benefits from such sectors. We assisted them in devising a strategy and organisation structure that is able to increase efficiency and is fit for such avenue of growth.
Client example 2
A leading Southeast Asian telecom operator was looking for ways to optimise its strategy implementation to win the market in priority cities. We analysed the markets in depth, designed the 360 market leadership strategy, and provided the guiding tools and templates for their 360 strategy development and execution, including the 360 Game Plan Template, 360 Business Case, 360 Playbook, project implementation plan, operational and management dashboards.
A leading Malaysian telecom operator aspired to conduct digital transformation in order to anticipate further shifts in consumer behaviours and remain relevant in the market. We articulated the digital transformation vision and delivered prioritised sets of operating model, enabling platforms and digitised offerings and experience enablers to allow the operator to achieve their digital strategy.
Client example 1
A leading Malaysian conglomerate was considering the viability of a privatisation offer for the national rail operator. We delivered a commercial due-diligence exercise, developed the privatisation offer and post-acquisition turnaround strategies.
Client example 2
One of the largest foreign life insurers in the region was evaluating a potential market entry into a fast growing but underdeveloped emerging market. We projected the market growth prospects including macroeconomic, regulatory, political and industry factors, identifying greenfield and acquisition options for our client; including a preliminary attractiveness assessment based on strategic, actuarial and deal based filters.
Culture and Leadership
A universal bank had aspirations of leveraging its cultural strengths to realise synergies across its regional business. We designed and implemented a multi-year, group-wide culture-led transformation programme.
Transport and Logistics
An ASEAN shipping line was facing increased competitive pressure as a result of expected market liberalisation. Strategy& worked with the management team to identify a strategic path forwards and ultimately engaged in a wargame with the top 50 management team members in order to provide deeper insights on potential strategic plays. The outcome was a clear strategic path for the organisation to both face the competitive threat and also continue its rapid above-market growth trajectory.
We have an experienced team of strategy professionals who are keen to discuss how they can support you in tackling the strategic challenges you are facing and help you realise the value you are are looking for.
