Major logistics transformation

A GCC country's military engaged Strategy& to help it move from a single force operating model to a joint logistics one to improve its efficiency and operational readiness.

Following a feasibility study that made the case for a joint logistics model, the Strategy& team supported the client on this multi-year transformation journey by designing and implementing joint logistics centers specializing in specific materiel categories, which range from general supplies to complex air and naval platforms. For each materiel category, the assigned logistics center is responsible for all major military logistics functions such as materiel planning, budgeting, inventory management, procurement, and through-life asset management. Well-structured service level agreements were put in place to monitor the services provided by these logistics centers to the various force units.

The Strategy& team also developed a strategic partnering approach to engage the private sector in selected military tasks. Finally, the Strategy& team helped the client in implementing an ERP system through a system integrator to automate all the logistics processes according to the new joint logistics model.
