Selected case studies

Creating and developing one of the Italian Cooperative Banking Group

Strategy& assisted one of the Italian Cooperative Banking Group’s Top Management in the definition of its growth strategy (including potential M&A) and multi-year business plan. In addition, we supported the Bank in the launch/ reinforcement of specific initiatives in specialty finance (e.g. leasing, rental, consumer credit).

Developing a new challenger bank for SMEs

Strategy& assisted a leading PE investor in the development of a fintech bank for small-medium enterprises. We supported the Top Management from strategy definition to business planning and to application to Bank of Italy. As a result, the bank asked Strategy& to support it in starting to implement its SME proposition.

Designing the offering of beyond-lending services for an Italian leading banking group

Strategy& helped identify and design a compelling proposition, service blueprint, and underlying business case for the provision of beyond lending services to bank’s SME clients.

Designing the target CIB EU27 service model for a leading Italian banking group

Strategy& supported a leading Italian banking group in the definition of its new Corporate & Investment Banking service model for EU. We assessed Brexit impacts on the revenue and operating model for the CIB division, evaluated market trends and peers’ orientation and analyzed possible opportunities and  changes to specific aspects of the current operating model.

Developing the growth strategy for the Italian payments domestic circuit

Strategy& assisted the Italian payments domestic circuit in developing its growth strategy and multi-year business plan. The big challenge was to change the pace, accelerate the renewal processes and give priority to the digitalization of the offer to support the spread among Italian people of the culture of digital payments, supporting banks with a payment instrument that could be used for each type and amount of payment.

Creating a new leading player in salary-backed loans

Strategy& supported a PE investor and a credit broker in the creation of a new and innovative player in salary-backed loans with the ambition to become a market leader in the medium term. We defined the target business model, the funding strategy and 5-year business plan, also helping with the application to Bank of Italy.
