Graduates and interns

What we look for

Our Associates join us from a range of backgrounds, but all are intellectually curious and highly motivated. We also look for people who bring something more to our work than their academic credentials. For example, the self-discipline and team-working skills that stem from a sporting background; or leadership qualities gained through work experience.

As an Associate, you’ll be able to exercise commercial awareness, analytical and interpersonal skills in your day-to-day work. Over time, you’ll build the confidence and credibility to present your opinions to clients and senior stakeholders.

Strategy& can offer you a career with diverse and challenging assignments. Our teams work with a wide variety of UK, European and Global corporate clients and investors. We deliver a mix of strategy consulting projects, addressing key CEO questions on issues such as growth strategy, market entry, mergers and acquisitions and value creation.

How can you join us?

For Summer Intern / Graduate Women and Black Talent

In order to ensure we continue to excel as a diverse and inclusive team, we offer two supported recruitment pathways for Graduates and Summer Interns, these are ‘Strategy& Women in Consulting’ and ‘Black Talent’.

Both pathways give applicants the opportunity to attend a virtual insight day followed by an (optional) in-person networking event hosted in our London office. The virtual insight day will allow you to hear directly from our consultants on topics such as; What to expect working at S&, Tips for preparing your CV and Cover Letter, Tips on preparing for the Case Study Interviews.

To apply for these pathways, applications open up in Summer (typically July). You will be asked to submit a CV and Cover Letter when applying, however please note that you will be given the opportunity to resubmit these documents after attending the Virtual Insight Day / Networking Event, to make any adjustments you think will help improve the quality of your application.

Overview of the application process

  • First you must submit your CV and Cover Letter online, and complete an online assessment.

  • If you pass the online assessment and CV / cover letter screening, you will be invited to a first round of 2 back-to-back interviews, which either takes places virtually or in-person at our London office.

  • The first round of interviews will typically comprise:

    • An unstructured case study interview (c.45 mins); You will first be asked a number of questions to help us learn more about who you are as a person (e.g. questions based around your background, personal experiences, previous professional work experience if relevant, and your motivations for joining Strategy&). You will then be given a unstructured consulting case study to work through with your interviewer

    • A structured case study interview (c.45 mins); You will be given a case study with a slide pack, which reflects a real client project we have worked on. You will have c.10 minutes to look over the information provided before being asked to develop some recommended solutions for the client.

  • Our case studies have been specifically designed to allow us to understand how you think when you are structuring an approach to solve a client’s problem, rather than coming up with ‘the right’ answer.
  • If you successfully pass the first round, you will be invited to a second round of interviews. This will either be on the same day for in-person full day assessments, or during another assessment days.
