Let me share an example of the work you get to do in our team
I’m a senior manager at Strategy& who has been with the team since 2015, ever since I left the world of teaching secondary school science.
I have had a wealth of exciting experiences in the team, moving from the healthcare team to being a specialist in net zero strategy, as well as being sponsored by the Strategy& Deals to do an 18-month MBA at London Business School. However, perhaps the most exciting opportunity I have had happened over the last 16 months, where I have been leading a project for the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council, a group of 130 CEOs of some of the world’s largest companies.
This project focuses on how we can accelerate the global energy transition through driving action on energy demand. Practically, this has meant working with the CEOs and their companies to understand the size of the opportunity, identifying best practice, and drafting policy recommendations for governments. Our output from the first phase was a white paper that highlighted an opportunity to reduce energy consumption by up to 31% using current technology, saving the global economy up to $2tn per year.
This has had a huge impact on the world stage, following our paper launch at Davos 2024. Most importantly it has been picked up by companies and countries as a way to deliver the COP28 goal to double the rate of energy efficiency improvement by 2030. Within the wider PwC network, it has also had a great impact, both on what we are advising our clients on, as well as increasing the number of colleagues who want to chat about what we are doing, and how to get involved.
Attending Davos 2024 as part of this project, as well as the IEA’s 9th annual energy efficiency conference in Nairobi have been real cherries on the top of the overall experience, and I am looking forward to continuing these exciting events and global impact all the way to Davos 2025. This is a great example of the kind of work you would only get to do in our team, based on our brand, network, and strong reputation in the climate and energy spaces.
