As part of PwC, Strategy& colleagues have the opportunity to participate in various networks designed to connect communities of likeminded people. Shine is one of these communities: this is the PwC network for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, trans and intersex persons, queers and everyone who identifies differently as well as their allies. This community is for everyone who actively wants to contribute to an inclusive working environment in which everyone’s sexual orientation and gender identity are accepted.
Shine NL aims to build an inclusive workplace where colleagues are encouraged from their first encounter with PwC to be their authentic self. A place in which everyone doesn’t just have the basic right, but actually feels free to be who they are, regardless of sexuality and gender identity.
When we feel safe to be ourselves, we are able to reach and use our full potential, and to create brighter opportunities that let each and every one of us truly shine. This is what Shine together with PwC’s other inclusion networks works to achieve every single day. From socializing to inviting (guest) speakers and introducing role models and ambassadors (for example through their Mentorship Programme) or Pride Business Club Amsterdam - the activities of Shine are as diverse as the network itself. We have also sponsored movie days, sporting events and the podcast series Gewoon Homo (Just Gay). All actions that are focused on acceptance and empathizing with each other.

We are proud to have sailed in the Amsterdam Canal Parade with our own PwC boat for many years now. It is a way to actively show our commitment to the LGBTIQ+ community. Since we find it important to showcase that PwC Strategy& is a place where everyone is welcomed regardless of sexual orientation, we have our own Shine boat every year at the Amsterdam Canal Parade. Together with over 100 colleagues (members of the LGBTIQ+ community as well as allies), we celebrated Pride in honor of all sexualities and gender identities.
