Dr. Philipp Wackerbeck is an advisor to executives in the financial sector for Strategy&, PwC’s strategy consulting business. He is a Partner at Strategy& Germany and based in the Munich office. As the Global Head of financial services for Strategy& and PwC’s EMEA banking and capital markets Leader, he regularly advises clients on important strategic projects like growth and market entry strategies, reorganizations, large-scale transformations and particularly in deals related projects including M&A, carve outs and debt and equity transactions. Additionally, he has in-depth knowledge in the risk, capital and regulations space.
In addition to his functional expertise, Philipp has extensive knowledge in corporate and investment banking, particularly asset-based finance. He has supported banks, asset managers as well as insurance companies tackling their most important strategic and transformational challenges. An avid writer, he has contributed to books, and articles including several Strategy& reports. He has successfully led multiple high-profile client engagements in diverse settings in Europe, North America and Asia.
Prior to joining Strategy& in 2006 as a Senior Associate, Philipp worked for Deutsche Bank and AIG. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Passau, a Postgraduate Diploma from the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance in London, and a PhD in Risk and Insurance from the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel.
