Maria is a partner at Strategy&’s FS Advisory Practice. As a principal in Strategy&’s Fit for Growth platform she is a strategy leader for Capital Markets. In this area, Maria has led numerous engagements in topics across all aspects of Fixed Income and Equities businesses, Investment and Corporate Banking, as well as in Risk, Cash Management, Custody, Private Banking, and general banking. In addition to client project work, she co-authored Dangerous Markets, a book on financial crises, with specific authorship of chapters on crises causes, banking in emerging markets, and technical appendices.

Before joining Strategy&, Maria worked at Marakon Partners, where she held the title of Partner, Vice President and Head of Banking. Maria’s prior experience further includes the role of Partner at Oliver Wyman, Managing Director at Bank of America Securities and senior member of the North American Wholesale and Investment Banking practice at McKinsey & Company. Maria also served on Bank of America’s Diversity Council and founded the BAC’s Women’s Forum, a 10,000+ organization promoting the attraction, promotion and retention of women across the platform.

Maria holds a Master of Business Administration from Yale University, where she specialized in Financial Theory.  She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Universidad Catolica Andres Bello (Caracas, Venezuela).
