Christopher A. H. Vollmer
Christopher Vollmer is a leading practitioner in developing digital businesses and innovative user experiences for major companies across media, technology, and consumer marketing for Strategy&. He is a principal with PwC U.S., based in New York and Los Angeles. He is global managing director of digital services at Strategy& and the leader of Strategy&'s global Media and Entertainment practice.
Christopher's engagements have included the development of corporate and business unit strategies, as well as future operating visions, organization re-designs, capability building programs, and pre- and post-acquisition integration efforts.
He is a sought-after commentator on major developments in digital media, entertainment and marketing. Christopher has been featured in a wide range of publications, including The New York Times, The Financial Times, Reuters, the Los Angeles Times, Advertising Age and The Hollywood Reporter. He is also a frequent participant in major industry conferences, delivering presentations on digital media and marketing to the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s Annual Meeting, the Association of National Advertiser’s Masters of Marketing Annual Conference, and Apple’s European Media Summit.
Christopher is a Wall Street Journal best-selling author; his book, Always On: Advertising, Marketing and Media in an Era of Consumer Control (McGraw Hill, 2008), describes how the marketing and media ecosystem has arrived at an evolutionary threshold where old structures and ways of working persist, but are fundamentally challenged by more dynamic, innovative, and, often, digital alternatives. Always On addresses the new capabilities marketers, agencies and media companies will therefore require to thrive in an environment where relevance, interactivity, and accountability matter more than ever. In 2008, Always On was recognized as one of the year’s best books on marketing by strategy+business magazine.
In addition to his work with Strategy&, Christopher is actively involved in a variety of organizations that reflect his interests in media, international affairs, and New York City. He is the Chairman of the Global Nomads Group, a NYC-based NGO that develops multimedia educational programs for students about global issues. He serves on the Paley Center for Media’s Media Council Board and the IESE Business School’s Advisory Board for its NY Media and Entertainment Center. In 2005, he was recognized as a “Young Leader” by the Atlantik-Brücke, a Berlin-based foundation focused on strengthening U.S.-European relations and building community among the next generation of American and European business, political and academic leaders.
Most recently, in 2013 he was named a top 10 global digital marketing influencer by Forbes Insights and Appinions. In 2010 he was selected to be a David Rockefeller Fellow. This program, established by the Principalship for New York City, enables a new generation of private sector leaders to deepen their understanding of the public needs of New York City and to take an active role in shaping the city’s future.
Christopher earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and a Master's in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California at Berkeley.
Christopher and his wife live in Old Greenwich, CT with their two children.
