Healthcare for complex populations: The power of whole-person care models

Healthcare reform is creating an opportunity for private payors to provide care for certain populations that were formerly handled by the government — primarily “dual-eligibles,” or people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. These are complex patients to treat, but there are clear rewards for the payor that can take on the challenge. We think it calls for a new approach for health plans: the whole-person care model.
