Q: What did you do before Strategy&?
A: I am originally from Azerbaijan and grew up in Germany. I completed my education in the U.K., with a bachelor’s degree in business management from King’s College London, and a master’s degree in innovation, strategy, and organization from the University of Cambridge. Following my studies, I spent a few months working for an education NGO in India, before joining Strategy& in the Frankfurt office.
Q: What do you do at Strategy&?
A: I am a Principal in our global healthcare practice — a sector I am passionate about. I work with my teams to develop health system strategies for healthcare clients, mostly government entities, providers, payors, and investment firms. The work is not only interesting but also extremely rewarding, as I know that we ultimately impact patients’ lives for the better. Along with my projects, I also work on internal firm priorities, such as recruiting, and our diversity and inclusion agenda.
Q: Personal life and interests; what makes you unique?
A: I have a multicultural background, and thrive in global, diverse environments. This is one of the reasons I work as a Global Shaper for the UAE chapter of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers. Together with other Shapers in the region and globally, I work on social impact initiatives in health and education.
Growing up in a multilingual family, I also have a passion for languages, and I am currently learning Arabic, which will be my fifth language.
Q: What keeps you driven at Strategy&?
A: What truly drives me is knowing that I can work on some of the most critical and impactful topics in the Middle East — from transforming a healthcare system, to building innovation strategies, and planning healthcare capacity during COVID-19. It is particularly exciting to work with senior clients on their most pressing priorities.
I believe that teams are a key component of the consulting journey at Strategy& so I also am driven by the opportunity to develop and coach my junior team members. No matter how busy project work gets, I make it a priority to take time to focus on personal development, build rapport with my teams, and create a productive culture within my teams.
