Harry Hawkes is a leading practitioner in business process reengineering, supply chain management, and performance improvement strategies for Strategy&. He is a principal with PwC U.S., based in Cleveland. He has more than 25 years of consulting experience and supports operations issues for media clients around the world.

As a result of their groundbreaking work with MTV and Wolters Kluwer, Mr. Hawkes and his teams have been recognized twice with our most prestigious honor—the Professional Excellence Award (PEA).

Examples of Mr. Hawkes’ work include:

  • For 10 consumer and media companies, completed sourcing programs to reduce purchased goods and services costs, including spend analyses, detailed diagnostics, commodity strategies, RFP management, and demand related savings
  • For seven consumer and media clients, redesigned the supply chain network, key processes, systems, and organization, including evaluating the existing network structure and processes; analyzing opportunities to outsource logistics and manufacturing to improve operating costs; and reengineering inventory management and forecasting processes/systems to reduce inventory levels while maintaining high service levels and reorganizing staff to improve effectiveness
  • For several consumer product/media companies, evaluated customer service functions to improve service and reduce costs; opportunities included merging centers, employing greater automation, outsourcing, and reducing overhead costs
  • For a major magazine company, completed several major restructuring efforts in editorial, publishing, overhead, distribution, and circulation areas to realize over $80mm in savings; services included detailed diagnostic phases, identification/sizing of opportunities, and joint implementation efforts
  • For a leading newspaper publisher, led a series of performance improvement and cost reduction projects; conducted fulfillment redesign study (40% savings); reengineered the HR and cash management processes to save $1.6mm and improve DSO by 7 days, respectively; conducted facilities study; identified $10mm savings by applying standards and transferring staff; and completed manufacturing best practices program and pilot across plants to improve cost, quality, and speed

Mr. Hawkes holds an MBA from The Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University. He sits on the boards of the Cleveland Contemporary Youth Orchestra and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
