A greenfield R&D program

A major telephone equipment manufacturer was planning to set up a newly independent global engineering division.

Strategy& was retained to develop a “greenfield” R&D model and then incorporate it into the design of the new organization. The new design included best practice product development metrics, product team operations, and early supplier involvement in product concept and design.

We also designed and implemented a new R&D portfolio management process, saving the company more than $80 million in its first year of use.
