Improving quality, lowering costs
A major personal computer manufacturer needed to drive down product development time and cost while improving product quality.
Based on our assessment of significant process gaps between product development and operations, we developed a program to drive more disciplined use of industry standard parts and to ensure that all unique parts had a high degree of commonality across product lines.
This effort was supported by a multi-dimensional effort to devise product development metrics around time, cost and quality that would ensure greater visibility and accountability. As a result, the company saved more than $240 million in product development costs.
