Tier-one global vehicle manufacturer IT cost and capability transformation

A Tier 1 global automotive manufacturer sought to reduce IT costs by ~50% by redesigning their organization model to a smaller, service-oriented function while outsourcing non-core capabilities. The goal of the transformation program was to cut costs and build deeper capabilities in business alignment and IT service delivery.

Strategy& conducted a detailed baseline of global IT spend, identifying key opportunities to reduce cost by infrastructure service tower as well as by application portfolio, resulting in over $250M in savings opportunities. In parallel, we helped develop a thin layer organizational model, retaining key capabilities while leveraging global sourcing providers to deliver on non-core services. Working with the client team, we developed a three-year transformational plan to close cost and capability gaps. We worked with key client counterparts to take on project manager roles to drive several high-profile opportunities to completion.
