“Positive Signale, Tiefe Unsicherheit (Positive Signals, Deep Uncertainty)”
In the January 29 issue of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Booz & Company CEO Shumeet Banerji wrote that despite the positive effects of the economic upturn, there was still enormous uncertainty in Europe about the sustainability and degree of the improvement. “For the first time after the Second World War, there is a justifiable worry if the young generation in the West will at some point be better off than their parents,” wrote Banerji in a bylined piece that summarized his impressions of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, where he was a panelist. At the Forum, Banerji wrote that national interests often displaced the global problems that leaders of countries should be solving together. “At the end of the day,” he added, “national interests are stronger than ever before.”
