“Tourists More Demanding and Fragmented in Their Holidays”
In the October 5, 2010 edition of The Borneo Post, Booz & Company Senior Partner Jürgen Ringbeck (Europe) said the economic slowdown means that tourists now are more demanding and fragmented in their holidays. Speaking at the World Tourism Conference 2010, Ringbeck said with tourists looking for variety in their holidays, which could be a mixture of adventure, “five-star” experience and sports in a single trip, it was imperative for the travel industry to sharpen its brand positioning and create unique experience for customers. Still another factor considered by tourists, added Ringbeck, was environmental sustainability in their holiday trips, with pollution and carbon footprints increasingly among the factors they are taking into account.
