Consumer 4.0 - how technology will disrupt our shopping experience
Digital technologies have already been evolving in recent years, causing disruption in the consumer industries. Consumers have started to dramatically change their shopping expectations and behaviours.
However, the biggest impact of technological disruption on our shopping experience still lies ahead of us. The adoption of new digital technologies will increase significantly in the next five years. For instance, the use of virtual and augmented reality will raise from 13 to 33 %. As part of this development zero-touch user interfaces will be available on >2 billion devices by 2020. Interactions from consumers will happen predominantly via mobile devices with 20% of user interactions taking place via virtual personal assistants (chatbots). And the use of wearables will take a key role in creating and linking artificial intelligence.
As a consequence, retailers and consumer good companies increasingly need to create innovative digital solutions to better connect with their consumers.
