Patrick Maher is an advisor to executives in the Health industry for Strategy&, PwC’s strategy consulting business. Based in San Francisco, he is a Principal with PwC US. He has over 20 years of experience in the US and Europe in strategy consulting, private equity, and leveraged financing.
Prior to Strategy&, Patrick was at Navigant, where he was the Managing Director of their Healthcare Strategy practice, focused on developing strategies and capabilities at the intersection of payors and providers.
Before that, he served as the practice director for Point B, Inc.'s strategy practice, where he expanded their cross-industry solutions and insights, such as bringing retail lessons into an increasingly consumer-focused healthcare environment.
Some of his recent client assignments include:
- Developed a provider sponsored health plan strategy and roadmap for a major health system in the Southeast U.S., leveraging the strength of the provider network and population health capabilities
- Developed a managed care strategy for a major cancer center to proactively address a rapidly changing payment landscape
- Development of local market strategies for four major metropolitan markets of a major national payor, leveraging unit cost and total cost of care analytics to identify actionable improvement opportunities
- Developed value chain implications “healthcare disruptors” and evaluated strategic options for a Pacific Northwest-based payor
Patrick is a Strategy& alumnus, having worked for us for 10 years after joining as an Associate in 1995 in the New York office. He later moved to Stockholm to lead the Nordic Financial Services practice.
Patrick has an MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management and a BBA in Finance and Business Economics from the University of Notre Dame.
