Gary Ahlquist is a Principal with Strategy&, PwC’s strategy consulting business, and with PwC US. He works within Strategy&’s global health business. Mr. Ahlquist served on the Booz & Company’s Board of Directors prior to its merger with PwC. He has been Managing Principal of the Global Health Group, the Chicago office and was President, Booz Allen Healthcare, Inc. Before the spin-off of Booz Allen Hamilton, Mr. Ahlquist served on its Board of Directors as well.

Mr. Ahlquist leads Strategy&’s work for healthcare clients worldwide. He specializes in corporate strategy engagements across the health sector, and has advised more than 100 senior executive teams and Boards on matters of strategy, governance, organization, M&A, business/operating model transformation, diversification and cost reduction. His primary client base comprises health insurers and providers but ranges widely from health services to product/technology businesses.

Much of Mr. Ahlquist’s practice has involved multi-party collaboration aimed at addressing fundamental change in the U.S. health model. He led the SHAPE effort in the state of Rhode Island, a three year effort to examine future health care needs across the state and solutions to meeting those needs. All stakeholders were involved including the local citizenry, politicians, regulators and all health sectors public and private.

Recent client assignments led by Mr. Ahlquist include: medical group strategies, an affiliation strategy for an AMC, enterprise strategies for community hospitals, regional systems, national networks, and AMCs, bundle strategies and pilot implementation for payors and providers and corporate strategy development for a global commercial health insurer.

Mr. Ahlquist serves on the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, and has been Chairman of Children’s Home + Aid (a state wide social services provider) and The Latin School of Chicago.

Mr. Ahlquist received a BS from Tufts University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He attempts to practice what he preaches by hitting a tennis ball and otherwise being physically active in his spare time.
