Engineering resource allocation

A North American automotive OEM retained Strategy& to help it assess the workload at its electronics and electrical engineering organization. The goal: To identify imbalances among its engineering teams, and to provide recommendations to better manage the workload.

We developed a detailed bottom-up workload model, taking into account such factors as the number of engineering resources, team skill sets, programs being supported, launch dates and complexity of work involved.

Our assessment helped the company identify which overtaxed engineering teams were causing downstream quality problems, and reallocate resources to improve workflow.
