Telecommunications operator privatization

  • Strategy& was retained by a major telecommunications operator in the Middle East to ready the company for market liberalization and competition.
  • The Strategy& team designed a four-year transformation program in line with international best practices. The program involved almost all the company’s functions. The implementation was carried out by thousands of the company’s representatives, assisted by expert advisors in the areas of strategy, network technology, information technology, human resources, legal practices, and finance. The majority of the related efforts were designed, managed, and executed by the Strategy& team, which took direct responsibility for nine modules covering the following functions: corporate planning, financial planning, performance management, procurement, organization design and implementation, customer service, marketing and launching of new services, information technology, and mobile business units. More than 400 projects led by 12 dedicated task forces were coordinated through a transformation program office (TPO) set up and comanaged by the Strategy& team.
  • The client made unprecedented progress on all the transformation objectives and, as a result, achieved considerable value enhancement. Indeed, the company had one of the most successful IPOs in the history of the Middle East.
