Former Dutch Minister of Healthcare Ab Klink to Set Up Health Care Practice at Booz & Company in the Netherlands

On June 1, 2011, former Dutch Healthcare Cabinet Minister Ab Klink will start working join the global management consultancy firm Booz & Company in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam, 31 May 2011 — On June 1, 2011, former Dutch Healthcare Cabinet Minister Ab Klink will start working join the global management consultancy firm Booz & Company in Amsterdam. He will apply his extensive industry knowledge and insights for strategic consultancy advice on urgent issues in Dutch healthcare. Ab Klink will combine his job at Booz & Company with his position as Professor of Healthcare, Labour and Political Direction at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.

Strengthening the global health care practice
The arrival of Ab Klink is part of Booz & Company’s plam to develop its global knowledge and industry expertise in the Dutch health care market. As a Minister, I have been increasingly impressed by the expertise and commitment of many healthcare providers. Keeping the patient and his health a key priority alongside the financing and organization in the health care arena are central to all initiatives in this space. At the Dutch Healthcare department, I was engaged in market regulation and the transparent quality of care. In the coming years, the challenge for the healthcare sector will be to balance increased demand with further improvement of the quality of care. Ab Klink (51) 1985 earned his Master's degree in Sociology at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. In 1991 he obtained his PhD in law at Leiden University. From 1992 to 1999 he worked at the Dutch Justice Department, where he has held the following positions: member of the Office of the Secretary-General, Council Adviser Strategy Department of Legislation, Policy Development Department of Justice and Deputy Director of Administration of Justice. From 1999 to 2007 was Klink Director of the Research Institute of the Dutch Christian Democrat Party, CDA.
In 2003 Klink became a member of the Dutch Senate for the CDA. From 2007 to 2010 he was Minister of Health, Welfare and Sports in the fourth Cabinet of Prime Minister Jan-Peter Balkenende. Starting this summer, he will also be working as a professor of Healthcare, Labor and Political Direction at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam.
