Special Olympics is dedicated to empowering individuals with an intellectual disability to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society. Through sports training and Olympic-type competition globally, Special Olympics offers children and adults with an intellectual disability an opportunity to achieve.
In Australia some 3000 athletes are actively involved, supported by 1,000 volunteers in 45 regions throughout the States and Territories.
Strategy& has worked with the Special Olympics Australia Board to review operational structure and build the baseline of governance needed to maximise community service delivery.
During 2008, we will continue our work with the Board, assisting to implement changes and identify further opportunities. In addition, we will continue to participate in Special Olympics fund raising events and activities.
